A fundamental aim of our research has therefore been to design a new synthetic product having the same acoustic properties as gut, but without its typical defects (high cost, short lifetime, high instability under moisture changes). Our Supernylgut?? has precisely all these good qualities without all these defects.

Its features include promptness of attack, excellent performances and a truly remarkable stability of intonation under moisture changes. Until the 1950?s, only gut cords were used for the Charango, Ronroco Timple canario and the Cuatro, in which the quickness of the answer was joined with the brilliance of the tones, being the sound very different with respect from the present nylon cords.
Our investigative work has always had the objective to make an artificial cord that had the same acoustic properties of the gut cords, without its typical defects (short life time, high prices, excessive sensitivity to the atmospheric variations).
With the  Supernylgut? we have been able to eliminate these defects, reproducing the original sound and tones of the Charango, Ronroco and Cuatro and at the same time guaranteeing an excellent tuning stability, with respect to which it can be produced with the best Nylon cords.

ATTENTION: Before placing the cords verify that the grooves of the superior bridge does not have excessive depth and they are perfectly smooth and without sharp or cutting edges or angles.
In order to obtain after few minutes a perfect stability of the tuning, it is advised, while tightening, pull each cord parallel to the sound board around the sound hole. Stop pulling when you notice that the cord stops stretching.

Fast Intonation, Powerful Performances

Traditional Yellow/Brown Gut Color

Thunderbrown strings do not show the so called ‘sausaging effect‘ (strings pulled by hand change their diameter permanently).
They are made from plant-derived bio-elastomers.
The metal added to the plastic blend in micronised copper form is minimal in the first string and maximal in the fourth string: this ensures perfect acoustic homogeneity of the set.
The strings guarantee perfect finger slide on the left hand.
The diameter is small enough to be comparable to standard wound strings of the acoustic bass guitars.
The sound is so powerful that they can be installed on instruments with traditional soundboard (i.e. not solid top) and played without amplification.
The string tension has been increased compared to that of our Thundergut, Thunderblack and Thundered strings.

BASS UKULELE AND ASHBORY THUNDER REDS® SETS

The Thunder Reds® sets: a unique look and a strong, consistent sound.

Until now, it was necessary to increase a string’s gauge to reach lower frequencies. But increasing the string’s diameter also increases internal dampening. That makes the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled:

the thicker the string, the duller the sound.

Our revolutionary new approach —never introduced before us— changes the specific weight of the material, increasing it progressively to leave the gauge unchanged.

Thunder-reds is a set made with three different types of synthetic elastomer. In the third and fourth strings, the density of the elastomeric material is also increased by adding micronized metal copper powder during the extrusion phase.

This technological solution allows for the same working tension to have smaller diameters, greater volume and sustain than any type of polyurethane and silicone rubber strings available on the market. The Thunder-reds ensure fast and stable intonation. Thanks to the metallic powder there is also a great slipperiness of the fingers on the strings.
